Comments Dear Saratoga City Council members, I'll be speaking up to
three minutes (time allowed) on behalf of the Saratoga Oak
Street School reunion committee this Wed., March 20, 2019
during "public comment" under your Agenda item "General
Business 3.1 Allocation of Community Event Grant Program
Funds." I'll be representing the Oak Street School reunion
committee's request for a $500 grant for the 25th Oak Street
School reunion event on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Wildwood
Park in Saratoga village. For the record, over the last three
years, since the City of Saratoga provided a $1000 grant to our
Oak Street School reunion committee in year 2015, our reunion
committee has provided a "no strings attached donation" of
$1650 to the Saratoga Oak Street School with $300 of that
amount given last October, $350 given in January 2018 for the
reunion in 2017, and $1000 in October 2016 for the reunion in
2015. Also, our current committee has been together for five
years, this will be our 6th reunion planned together, and the
25th annual reunion for this Oak Street School reunion event,
an annual event that was first started by alumni and friends of
Saratoga Oak Street School who first got the idea hold this
"school reunion." The prior committee(s) and founders of this
annual Oak Street School reunion event have also donated to
the school on numerous times from funds received from
holding the school reunion event each year at Wildwood Park
in Saratoga. Our written invitation states "alumni and friends of
Saratoga Oak Street School" are invited and "visitors also
welcome." Thank you.
