H ERITAGE P RESERVATION C OMMISSION
MINUTES
Date: Tuesday, April 10, 2012 / 8:30 A.M.
Place: Administrative Conference Room – 13777 Fruitvale Avenue
Type: Regular Meeting – Please meet in the parking lot in front of City Hall
at 8:30 A.M. Staff will provide transportation to the site visits under
New Business and reconvene in the Administration Conference
Room by approximately 9:15 A.M.
Place: Regular Meeting – Administrative Conference Room
1. Routine Organization
A. Roll Call
Present: Commissioners Cappello, Marra, Marchetti, Nugent, Shah
Absent: Commissioners Conrado, Heid
Staff: Senior Planner Christopher Riordan
B. Review of minutes from March 13, 2012 meeting – Approved as amended 5-0
C. Posting of Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the
agenda was posted on April 6, 2012 – Agenda properly posted
D. Oral & Written Communication - Any member of the public may address the
Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to
three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may
choose to place the topic on a future agenda – None
E. Oral Communications –Instruction to staff regarding actions on current Oral
Communications – Schedule discussion of Hakone Gardens National
Register Application for the next HPC meeting.
2. New Business
A. Site Visit at 19161 Cox Avenue – Review of an application by Jun Xie
(property owner) for a residential addition to an existing home on the City’s
Historic Resource Inventory – Site visit completed. The Commission
discussed the applicants proposed modifications. Approved 5-0.
B. Site Visit at 13764 Saratoga Vista – HPC review of an existing tank house
located in the rear yard of a single family home for possible addition to the
City’s Historic Resource Inventory – Site visit completed. The Commission
discussed the merits of the tank house and determined that the tank house
should be added to the Historic Resource Inventory. Approved 5-0
C. HPC Review of 2010-2011 Certified Local Government (CLG) Report –
The Commission discussed the CLG report and recommended some minor
modifications. Approved 5-0
3. Old Business
A. Heritage Trees Discussion – Continue discussion of HPC selection of
possible Heritage Trees – Not discussed.
B. Properties on Inventory – Continue the discussion process of adding new
properties to the existing Heritage Inventory – Not discussed.
4. Adjournment
Adjourn to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, Administrative Conference Room,
13777 Fruitvale Avenue – Meeting adjourned.
