Room (please meet outside in the parking lot due to site visits) 1. Routine Organization A. Roll Call ATTENDED: Conrado, Cappello, Marchetti, Gomersall, Marra, Heid ABSENT: Shah GUESTS: Gary Kohlsatt, Mr. and Mrs. DiNapoli, Tom Sloan, John Kang, Stu Campbell, Tina Brozda STAFF: Fossati B. Approval of minutes from July 12, 2011 meeting. Marra informed Staff of corrections. Gomersall moved to approve as amended, Marchetti second. Ayes 6, Noes 0, Absent 1 (Shah). C. Posting of Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda was posted on August 4, 2011. Agenda properly posted. D. Oral & Written Communication - Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. Stu Campbell from Congress Springs Real Estate discussed an existing project at 14501 Big Basin. E. Oral Communications –Instruction to staff regarding actions on current Oral Communications. Chair Conrado directed Staff to add review of the project on 14501 Big Basin to the next available HPC Meeting. 2. New Business A. 14651 Big Basin Way - Review demolition of pre-1950 commercial structure for new mixed-use building. 14651 Big Basin Way is currently not listed on the Heritage Resource Inventory. Commission discussed. Marra moved to determine 14651 Big Basin Way does not qualify as an historic resource. Heid second. HPC approved the determination with 6 ayes, 0 noes, 1 absent (Shah). B. 14766 Oak Street. (Madronia Cemetery) – Review of proposed grading for new cemetery site. Madronia Cemetery is currently listed on the Heritage Resource Inventory. Commission discussed. Marra moved to determine proposed project at 14766 Oak Street (Madronia Cemetery) is in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior Standards and that it will not have an impact of the historic character of the Heritage Resource. Gomersall second. HPC approved determination with 6 ayes, 0 noes, 1 absent (Shah). C. 19120 Monte Vista Dr. – Review of major addition to an existing pre-1950 2- story residence. 19120 Monte Vista Dr. is currently not listed on the Heritage Resource Inventory. Commission discussed. Applicant presented Historical Evaluation completed by Archives and Architecture. Evaluation concluded that 19120 Monte Vista would not qualify for listing on State Register of Historic Structures. Heid moved to determine that 19120 Monte Vista does not qualify as an historic resource, Marra second on the basis of lack of findings included in Historical Evaluation completed by Archives and Architecture. HPC approved determination with 6 ayes, 1 noes (Marchetti), 1 absent (Shah). 3. Old Business A. Hakone Gardens – Update for application for National Register HPC requested we reconvene with update at next meeting. B. HPC Retreat – Update for CC presentation Commission voted on topics. Narrowed list down to 3 topics to present to CC for assistance. The 3 topics include: a. Create & Maintain Heritage Tree List b. Increase # of homes on Heritage Resource Inventory c. Preserve post WWII buildings by asking property owners to apply. Chair Conrado directed Staff to reconvene with update at next meeting. C. HPC Training – Update from Commissioner Cappello regarding online training. Commissioner Cappello recommended HPC review “Preservation and Sustainability” video online for HPC education. Staff to reserve room to watch “Preservation and Sustainability” video for HPC in September. 4. Adjournment Adjourn to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, Warner Hutton House, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue. Meeting adjourned
