Room (Meet in City Hall front parking lot in order to visit three sites – 20490 Saratoga-Los Gatos Dr. & 14238 Saratoga Ave. & 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos) 1. Routine Organization A. Roll Call ATTENDED: Heid, Gomersall, Tai, Conrado, and Marra ABSENT: Cappello and Kellond STAFF: Assistant Planner Fossati B. Approval of minutes from April 13, 2010 meeting (May 2010 and June 2010 meetings were cancelled) Moved to approve minutes as shown by Tai, second by Marra. Ayes 5, Noes 0, Absent 2. C. Posting of Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda was posted on July 7, 2010. Agenda properly posted. D. Oral & Written Communication - Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. – Received two e-mails on April Halberstadt regarding approved construction at 20490 Saratoga- Los Gatos Rd. Ms. Halberstadt concerned about preserving portions of interior of former Theodore Wores studio. Although property owner not mandated, the property owner informed the commission that he’s doing his best to preserve pictures on the walls that could potentially have been painted by Mr. Wores. E. Oral Communications –Instruction to staff regarding actions on current Oral Communications. No action directed. 2. Old Business A. See Pending Items 3. New Business A. 20490 Saratoga-Los Gatos Rd. - Review request by property owner to add stone to front façade of rear accessory structure, trellis to the side, and a small roof to cover the porch. Review required since project is on Heritage Resource Inventory - Property Owner / Applicant Shadman informed the HPC on proposed changes to previous approval. The changes consist of the following (decision in bold): • Replace sliding glass door with hinged glass doors and vintage stained glass windows and change front façade of wine room from board and batten siding to stucco and stone accents. HPC approved 4 – 0 to replace sliding doors with hinged doors and installation of vintage stained glass windows. Did not approve front façade replacement of board and batten siding to stucco and stone accents. HPC condition to install board and batten siding on front façade, southeast façade facing breezeway, soffit & breezeway of proposed wine room. Exposed stucco is allowed on rear and northwest façade. • Add wooden trellis on the west side of the main structure over the patio area HPC approved 4 – 0 of new trellis to be installed over patio. No HPC conditions. • Small roof structure on front façade of main building (HPC denied 3 – 1 (Conrado, Gomersall, Marra as ayes for denial, and Heid as noes for denial). The main structure is not allowed to have awning or small roof on front façade. No HPC conditions. B. 14238 Saratoga Avenue – Review proposed addition of attached garage to existing single-story, single family residence. Review required since project location is along Heritage Lane. HPC approved 4 – 0 to allow the addition of an attached garage to existing single-family residence. HPC condition requires applicant / property owner to remove exiting front wall along Saratoga Avenue prior to receiving final building approval. C. 20450 Saratoga-Los Gatos Rd. – Review proposed project of temporary storage to be located in the rear yard of the Saratoga Historical Museum. As a courtesy, HPC reviewed temporary storage at Saratoga Historical Museum. HPC has no objections to proposal of new temporary storage. 4. Pending Items A. Joint Meeting – HPC to meet with City Council and SHF – 9/1 @ 6:00pm HPC requested Staff look into how many projects HPC approved and additional work completed by HPC prior to meeting. 5. Adjournment Adjourn to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010, Administrative Conference Room in City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue. Meeting adjourned.
