HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-14-10 HPC Minutes City of Saratoga H ERITAGE P RESERVATION C OMMISSION MINUTES Date: Tuesday, September 14, 2010 - 8:30 a.m. Place: Regular Meeting – Warner Hutton House (Please meet in parking lot prior to meeting due to site visit) 1. Routine Organization A. Roll Call ATTENDED: Heid, Tai, Conrado, and Marra ABSENT: Cappello, Gomersall (excused) STAFF: Assistant Planner Fossati B. Approval of minutes from August 10, 2010 meeting. Moved to approved minutes by Conrado, second by Marra. Ayes 4, Noes 0, Absent 2. C. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda was posted on September 9, 2010. Agenda properly posted. D. Oral & Written Communication - Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. Staff discussed letter received from Saratoga resident requesting the commemoration of Mary Brown via a statue or plaque. Commissioner Marra recommended resident contact Saratoga Historical Foundation to discuss commemoration efforts. Comments forwarded back to resident via e- mail. Bonnie Bamburg informed the HPC that she is representing the property owners of 19161 Cox Avenue (Joseph Cox House) for a Historical Landmark / Mills Act application. E. Oral Communications –Instruction to staff regarding actions on current Oral Communications. 2. Old Business A. 14000 Fruitvale Avenue – West Valley College – Carlson House Staff informed HPC that there is a DPR on record for the Carlson House, but staff is working on finding out who commissioned the drafting of the DPR. Once staff verifies the owner of the DPR, staff will request permission to provide copies of the DPR to commissioners. 3. New Business A. 21955 Via Regina – Applicant requesting a determination of the HPC regarding the historical significance of an existing main residence. The existing residence is not on heritage inventory, but is over 50 years old. Acting Chair Tai noticed no historical significance with the existing residence. Commissioner Marra and Conrado concurred with Chair Tai. Conrado moved to approved with Heid second. Ayes 4 Noes 0 Absent 2. B. Joint HPC/SHF meeting – Inform HPC of meeting results. Staff informed HPC of items discussed in joint meeting. Items included Hakone Gardens application for National Register, Preservation of Carlson House, & possible grant request for Heritage Sign. 4. Pending Items A. N/A 5. Adjournment Adjourn to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010, Warner Hutton House, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue. Meeting adjourned.
