HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-14-10 HPC Minutes City of Saratoga H ERITAGE P RESERVATION C OMMISSION MINUTES Date: Tuesday, December 14, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. Place: Regular Meeting – Warner Hutton House 1. Routine Organization A. Roll Call ATTENDED: Marra, Gomersall, Shah, Cappello, Heid, Tai, and Conrado. Commissioner Tai had to leave early due to family emergency. GUEST: Tiger Teerlink, Jim Meech STAFF: Assistant Planner Fossati B. Approval of minutes from the October 12, 2010 meeting. Marra moved to approve, Cappello/Conrado second. Ayes 6, Noes 0, Absent 1 (Tai). C. Posting of the Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda was posted on December 9 2010. Agenda properly posted D. Oral and Written Communication – Any member of the public may address the Commission for up to three minutes about any matter not on the agenda. Commissioners may not comment of the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. None E. Oral Communications – Instruction to staff regarding actions on current Oral Communications. None 2. Old Business A. HPC application: HPC reviewed 2nd draft of application form. Commissioner Conrado recommended adding different language for questions. HPC directed staff to work with Conrado to continue to work on HPC application. 3. New Business A. 8:30 a.m. Site Visit – 14545 Fruitvale Avenue – Review of a possible remodel request for 14545 Fruitvale Avenue. Records demonstrate the house as a 1916 cottage, but due to extensive alteration over the years, the architectural style is most similar to colonial revival. The future property owner is requesting the HPC review the property in order to determine if the residence has historic value. Guests Teerlink and Meech discussed project with HPC. Applicant offered letter from Historical Consultant claiming residence at 14545 Fruitvale not historic, due to significant alteration throughout time. HPC determined residence NOT to be historic. Ayes 5, Noes 1 (Shah), Absent 1 (Tai). B. Certified Local Government – 2009 – 2010 Annual Report – Update Planner Fossati informed HPC that he’ll be completing the annual report for next year and may have to contact HPC members for certain questions during the end of the month. C. Grant write-up for Heritage Sign – HPC discussed grant writing opportunity with fellow commissioners. HPC directed staff to further investigate Santa Clara County Historical Heritage Grant Program, such as start time, date, and ending date. 4. Pending Items A. None 5.
