HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-14-2009 HPC Minutes City of Saratoga H ERITAGE P RESERVATION C OMMISSION MINUTES Date: Tuesday, April 14, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. Place: Regular Meeting – Please meet in the parking lot in front of the Warner Hutton House at 8:30 a.m. and Staff will provide transportation to the site visit under New Business and return to the Magnolia Room by 9:00 a.m. 1. Routine Organization A. Roll Call PRESENT – Commissioners Conrado, Kellond, Koepernik, Vice Chair McCarty, and Chair Marra ABSENT – Commissioners Gomersall, Tai STAFF – Senior Planner Christopher Riordan GUESTS – Mr. Amit Bahl and Mr. Steve Yang B. Approval of minutes from the March 10, 2009 meeting - Approved C. Posting of Agenda – Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda was posted on April 10, 2009 – Staff announced the posting. D. Oral & Written Communication - Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. - None E. Oral Communications –Instruction to staff regarding actions on current Oral Communications. - None 2. Old Business A. Discuss National Registry & Saratoga Landmark Plaques. – The Commission discussed the presentation procedure to award the Landmark Plaques at the April 15, 2009 City Council meeting. Due to a limited time provided for the presentation is was agreed that Chair Marra would conduct the presentation. 3. New Business A. 8:30 a.m. Site Visit – 14362 Springer Avenue – The applicant is proposing to demolish the existing house constructed in the 1930’s. Site visit completed. Item discussed. – The Commission discussed the Historic Evaluation report for the property prepared by Archives and Architecture and thanked the applicant for submitting the report to the HPC for their review. Motion by Commissioner Kellond and seconded by Vice Chair McCarty that the home at 14362 Springer Avenue has not enough historic value to warrant its preservation or placement on the Heritage Resource Inventory and that the applicant’s plans to demolish the existing house could be supported. Motion carried on a 6-0 vote.
4. Pending Items A. Update the Heritage Resources Inventory List – Status of Consultant – Senior Planner Christopher Riordan informed the Commission that a Heritage Consultant had been selected and that the City was in the process of preparing a contract. B. National Register Applications – Not discussed. 5. Adjournment Adjourn to 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009, Magnolia Room, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue.
