HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-08-2002 HPC MinutesCity of Saratoga HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES Date: Tuesday, October 8 and 18, 2002 8:30 a.m. Place: Warner Hutton House, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue Type: Regular Meeting The following minutes represent the meeting held on October 8 and continued to October 18, 2002. I. Routine Organization A. Roll Call: PRESENT – Bailey, Ballingall, Conrado, Grens, Koepernik, Lowdermilk, Peck. ABSENT – None, GUESTS – Jill Hunter, Iveta Harvancik, Representatives from the Town of Los Gatos and City of Campbell, Beth Wyman, April Halberstadt, Ann Waltonsmith, Dave Anderson, John Cherbone. B. Approval of minutes from 9/10/02. Approved 7­0 with minor changes. C. Posting of the Agenda ­ Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda was posted on Thursday September 5, 2002 and October 3, 2002 for the continued meeting. D. Oral Communications – Commissioner Peck gave an update on the Library project. E. Written Communications ­ None II. Old Business A. Historic calendar – Update on number sold and discussion on making additional copies. – Commissioner Ballingall volunteered to coordinate the calendar sales. The Commission decided to go ahead and spend the HPC funds to produce the calendar with the money from the sales going into the City General Fund, based on the HPC account being reimbursed by the City at the mid year budget review. B. Blaney Plaza ­ Update by Commissioners on the Subcommittee – Commissioners Lowdermilk and Peck updated the Commission on the progress of the proposed plaza design. III. New Business A. Training on reviewing Historic Structures – Received training on State forms and reviewing historic structures. B. Heritage Orchard update by Iveta Harvancik – Reviewed costs associated with the well and replacement trees. The Commission recommended that a well be installed and replace the dead trees in the first three rows around the orchard perimeter. The Public Works Director also said that a public information sign would be placed in the orchard explaining the work that will be taking place. C. Confirm Mustard Walk dates and Arts Commission co­sponsorship – The Commission approved the Arts Commission request to co­sponsor in the Mustard Walk. The Mustard Walk date was set for February 9, 2003. The Commission also directed staff to look into getting a banner for the Mustard Walk. IV. Items Initiated by the Commission None V.
