TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION
SPECIAL MEETING
Minutes
DATE: April 23, 2019
TIME: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
LOCATION: Patio Room- Joan Pisani Community Center

Call to Order
Present: Jonathan Choi (Chair), Ray Cosyn, Christopher Coulter
Absent: Belal Aftab, Mitch Kane, David McIntyre
Staff: Mainini Cabute, John Cherbone, Franziska Church,
Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda
for this meeting was properly posted on April 18, 2019.
Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code
Section 54954.2.
Oral & Written Communication
Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda
for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter
but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda.
New Business
1.Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Kick-off meeting.
Possible Actions:
a.Introductions- Attendees included:

a.resentation of SRTS and Saratoga’s efforts
-City gave presenation.
b. Discuss short term and long-term goals
-Short term- create maps of safe routes within ½ mile radius
-Long term
- Develop brochures that discuss purpose of Safe Routes to School that includes
maps.
- Work together as a group to establish best practices relating to safe routes,
outreach, and improved community engagement toward safety
c. Discuss next steps
a. Schedule future Walk/Bike to School Day
- Will be scheduled after maps are created.
b. Schedule next meeting
- City staff will send out invite for a meeting in September 2019.
