A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
ADOPTING THE CITY OF SARATOGA ANNEX TO THE 2023 SANTA CLARA
COUNTY MULTIJURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN AS THE CITY
OF SARATOGA'S LOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN
WHEREAS,the Bay Area is subject to various earthquake-related hazards such as ground
shaking, liquefaction, and fault surface rupture; and
WHEREAS, the Bay Area is subject to various weather-related hazards including
wildfires, floods, and landslides; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga recognizes that disasters do not recognize city, county,
or special district boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the City seeks to maintain and enhance both a disaster-resistant City and
region by reducing the potential loss of life,property damage,and environmental degradation from
natural disasters, while accelerating economic recovery from those disasters; and
WHEREAS,the City of Saratoga is committed to increasing the disaster resistance of the
infrastructure, health, housing, economy, government services, education, environment, and land
use systems in the City, as well as in the Bay Area as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all cities, counties, and
special districts to have adopted a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to receive disaster mitigation
funding from FEMA; and
WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara, in cooperation with cities and some special
districts, has prepared this Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for the Santa Clara County
Operational Area, in compliance with California Government Code Sections 8685.9 and 65302.6,
and in alignment with Federal and State mitigation priorities; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council adopts the City of Saratoga
Annex to the 2023 Santa Clara County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan as the City's
Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and the City commits to take those actions identified in the City of
Saratoga Annex and use them to guide pre-and post-disaster mitigation of thehazards identified.
All prior City of Saratoga Annexes to any Santa Clara County Multijurisdictional Hazard
Mitigation Plan are hereby repealed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City's Director of Emergency
Services is authorized to make minor adjustments to this Plan as necessary and appropriate to
satisfy changing conditions and needs, without impacting any City Council Policy.

The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga
City Council held on the 20"' day of March 2024, by the following vote:
