Any recommendation made by the Heritage Preservation Commission may be appealed to
the Planning Commission within ten (10) days of the date of the decision. The appeal shall
be taken by filing with the Secretary of the Heritage Preservation Commission a written
notice and filing fee within ten (10) days of the date of the decision.
In accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, copies of the staff report, and other materials
provided to the Heritage Preservation Commission by City staff in connection with this
agenda are available at the office of the Community Development Department Director at
13777 Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga, California 95070. Any materials distributed by staff after
the posting of the agenda are made available for public review at the office of the Director
at the time, they are distributed to the Heritage Preservation Commission.

Clubhouse Tour Event, July 9th
Two tours of the clubhouse are scheduled to review and focus on the preservation and
restoration realities and treatments for the Julia Morgan designed, nationally recognized
clubhouse. The current EPP (Exterior Preservation Project) best exemplifies the club’s
preservation efforts, challenges and achievements while adhering to the Department of
the Interior’s Standards for Preservation.
1.*9am - 10:30 HPC (Heritage Preservation Commission), including staff liaison, Nicole
Johnson. The commissioners desire a better understanding of the challenges,
including unique material sources and costs, along with the need for specialized,
highly skilled contractors to: repair, restore and maintain historic structures, according
to the Standards. HPC meetings are open to the public.
2.10:30 - 11:30 *Tour for club board members and new members
•*Club board members and new members are welcome to attend either tour at 9am or
10:30.
•Educational items and materials, that provide information about the club’s preservation
projects, including the current EPP, will be available to view in the dining room.
•Alex Nugent, EPP project manager, co-chair historic preservation committee, will lead
both tours.
3.Preservation projects at the club require strict adherence to the Secretary of the
Interior’s Standards for Preservation. We are obligated by municipal code to follow
the standards. Our clubhouse has achieved distinction and recognition through
several entities:
•HABS (Historic American Building Survey; records stored at the Library of
Congress), 1978
•Saratoga Heritage Resource Inventory and Landmark Structures Inventory, 1988
•National Register of Historic Places, 2005
•Saratoga Landmark Structures, official survey 2009
•California Register of Historical Resources
•Outstanding Building Restoration award (Santa Clara County Preservation
Alliance, May 2022.)
