WALIA/FITZSIMMONS MOVED TO APPOINT ERIC LEWIS TO THE LIBRARY AND PUBLIC ART COMMISSION FOR A FULL-TERM ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2028. MOTION PASSED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYES: FITZSIMMONS, PAGE, WALIA, AFTAB, ZHAO. NOES: NONE. ABSTAIN: NONE. RECUSED: NONE. ABSENT: NONE. It was the consensus of the City Council to reopen the recruitment on the Library and Public Art Commission for the term ending September 30, 2027. AFTAB/WALIA MOVED TO APPOINT PRIYA SHASTRI TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION FOR A FULL-TERM ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2028. Supervisor Simitian provided a summary of the discussion during the Joint Session. CEREMONIAL ITEMS Commendation Honoring Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian Recommended Action: Present Commendation to Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian The City Council presented a Commendation to Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian. Proclamation commending Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Support Services Recommended Action: Declare September 2024 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. APCC24-0002 - Appeal of a Planning Commission decision denying tree appeal APTR24-0005 at 20388 Zorka Avenue appealing the conditions of approval on code violation ATFTR24-0020 Recommended Action: Conduct a public hearing and de novo review of the appeal and adopt the attached resolution denying appeal APCC24-0002 approving After-the-Fact Tree Permit Application (ATFTR24-0020) with the original conditions for the unpermitted removal of four coast live oak trees, Quercus agrifolia, for the property at 20388 Zorka Avenue. Building Code Cleanup Ordinance Recommended Action: Conduct the public hearing, introduce and waive the first reading of an ordinance amending the City Building Code concerning building electrification (sections 16-49.020 , 16-49.030, and 16-49.040) to remove requirements that residential and commercial construction be mostly electric and direct staff to place the ordinance on the consent calendar for adoption at the next regular meeting of the City Council.
