MINUTES
TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2022
SARATOGA YOUTH COMMISSION
4:00 P.M. SPECIAL MEETING
Meeting was to order at 4:15 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present: Xia, Singh, Henry, Hao, Kelkar, Chao, Dharwadkar, Jing, Krishna, McCormick,
Zhao.
Also Present: Kayla Nakamoto, Administrative Analyst.
Absent: None.
Members of the Public: None.
AGENDA ITEMS:
1. Youth Commission Minutes
Recommended Action:
Review and approve the minutes from the June, 5 2022 meeting.
Moved to the next meeting.
2. Tour of City Hall
Recommended Action:
Take a tour of the Saratoga City Hall campus and facility spaces that have been
commonly used for Youth Commission efforts in previous years.
3. Commissioner Handbook
Recommended Action:
Review the handbook, roles and expectations of a Youth Commissioner.
4. Brown Act & Communications
Recommended Action:

Receive presentation from staff about the Brown Act and communications.
5. Work Plan 2022-2023
Recommended Action:
Discuss ideas to include in the 2022-2023 Youth Commission work plan that will
be further discussed in September 2022.
6. Youth Commission 2022-2023 Apparel
Recommended Action:
Select a piece of apparel for the Youth Commission 2022 -2023 year. Share input
on designs and color if desired.
7. Youth Commission Positions
Recommended Action:
Discuss the process, roles, and responsibilities of each Youth Commission
position. Select a chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer, and marketing chair.
8. Joint Meeting Presentation
Recommended Action:
The joint meeting with the Saratoga City Council is scheduled for September 21,
2022. During the meeting, the Youth Commission will present their 2022-2023
work plan and should be prepared to answer any questions.
9. Future Agenda Items
Recommended Action:
Consider agenda items for upcoming meetings. The next regular Youth
Commission meeting is scheduled for September 27, 2022. The Youth
Commission may choose to schedule a Special Meeting on September 6, 2022 to
work on the 2022-2023 work plan.
Commissioners agreed to schedule a meeting on September 6, 2022.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Hao adjourned the meeting at 8:45 p.m.
