Call to Order 7:07 PM II. Roll Call: Arunkumar, Byrne, El-Diwany, Fariba, Gupta, Langstaff, Maltiel, Pramanik, Rateau, Rezaii, Seifert, Sclavos, Shepherd, Tseng. All present except Arunkumar, Fariba, and Seifert III. Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on November 7, 2006. IV. Accept Agenda Items and Order: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2. V. Approval of October Minutes. Motion: Pramanik, Second: El-Diwany VI. Oral and Written Communication Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the ma?tter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda VII. Presentation A. CERT -Jim Yoke of Santa Clara County Fire Department 1. Discussion Not here VIII. Old Business A. Time Capsule (Elli) 1. Update from 10.25 meeting Going to have photos, CD’s, movie, newspaper, bios of commissioners, etc. Have a TC Party where we have the burial. Going to be lots of fun. 2. Discussion Do we want to do this? Would it be a waste of time, or is it worth it? Vote next meeting B. Dance (10/13) 1. Report 109 kids total; 14 Redwood, 70 Rolling Hills, 3 Miller, 22 guests a. Positive & Negative Manageable, not a lot going on C. Dance (11/3) 1. Report 74 kids; 9 Redwood, 30 Rolling Hills, 0 Miller, 23 Sacred Heart, 12 guests a. Positive & Negative Not a good turnout, went downhill b. Passing out Flyers? Helpful Shireen & Elli handed out flyers, not a success c. More ideas Have a “rally,” DJ Paul plays at lunch, have skit on dance battle, need to be hyped up for the dance to rub off on the middle schoolers. Adam will attend the PTA meetings to inform the parents in advance about the dance. 2 Should we have a theme? Camo? SHABAM??? Have paper bags at coat check for next dance, held DECEMBER 8 1. Pre-sale Nope 2. Open to other schools? Definitely opening up to Fisher, 11 votes D. Concert (11/10) 1. CC with Twice Outspoken a. Report Not many people, especially for Twice Outspoken b. Positives/Negatives 3 bands bailed out, people sneaking through the back door. Next time, have a couch where people could just hang out, set up an environment like that of the Warner. Have Battle of the Bands on DECEMBER 22. Check out Westmont’s Battle of the bands with Langstaff. E. SYC Shirts 1. Presentations Superman design? SYC written on back with the year. 2. Vote on best design No designs yet… F. Snow Trip (Shepherd) 1. Trips a. Sugar Bowl – February 3, 2007 5 AM – 8 PM b. Bear Valley – March 17 c. COST: $87/person (lift ticket & transportation & light breakfast) Breakfast: muffins and croissants, get new flyers out, need commission participation d. Promotion Strategy 1. Schools, Clubs Shepherd will spread the the word through his “snow club” G. LAN Tournament – 1. Details: Friday, 6-11 p.m. $10/$12/person; unlimited pizza & soda We have all the equipment, want to get maximum 32 people, minimum 16 people 2. Event Date? Date to be determined at next meeting 3. Meeting to discuss needs (monitors, games, etc.) Tournament organized by Byrne, pay at the door, have T-shirts as prizes??? Open to all high schoolers only. Happy Corner discussed at next meeting H. Senior Ball We skipped this. IX. New Business A. Change Dates 1. December Meeting date? a. Currently, it’s scheduled for December, 12th. b. Want to change it for December 5th? Yes, moved to DECEMBER 5 2. January Dance Date a. Currently, scheduled for January 5th ??Tami’s Birthday!!!! b. Move to 19th? Just get rid of the dance, 7 vote yes B. Dance (12/8) 1. 6:30 p.m. @Community Center Don’t forget C. Input from Commission 1. Volunteers to speak at Council Meeting to update them on latest events Nothing to say yet D. SYC Pow-Wow 3 1. December/January social for YCers Definitely, but not during December; find date at next meeting a. White Elephant? Sure b. TC link X. Group Reports: A. Dance (Rezaii, Langstaff, Gupta, Rateau, Fariba) Meeting on Tuesday, NOVEMBER 28 at Starbucks at 6:00 pm 1. New outreach ideas to increase attendance Discussed at committee meeting B. Website – Updates (Pramanik & Seifert) 1. New improvements Add calendar, encourage more people to bookmark it or have a bunch of links, hard to update it if nobody’s goin on, have every band put up our site as a link, make a new site? Send link to everyone, create another myspace/facebook 2. Do we want to renew the domain name? ($34.99/yr) Maybe, if we get enough links a. Try a different avenue such as Myspace?
