B. Approval 4~ Minutes
The minutes of October 2, 1989 were approved as written.
C. Posting ~ ~~~
Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda was posted at
City Hall.
II. QI`d Business
A. Committee updates
1. Warner Hutton House - Tour will be arranged in November for
members of this committee. A tour will give the committee
ideas as to what they would like to see in the Teen Drop-In
Center. Group will then report suggestions to rest of
commission.
2. Southern California - Trip will be scheduled between April
2-6, 1990 when students at Saratoga High School and Redwood
Junior High are on Spring Break.
3. Community Service - Some suggestions/ideas for this committee
included going to Dog Pound to help wash dogs, caroling at
Odd Fellows, and visiting/helping at a soup kitchen. This
committee is also responsible for getting volunteers to work
at the Hakone Festival on Saturday, November 4, 1989. The work
responsibility at the Festival will be helping with one of
the food booths. The type of food to be served has not been
determined at this time. Two shifts will be needed with a
maximum of six commissioners working each shift. Shifts will
be from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 - 4:00 p.m. More
details will be given at next meeting.
4. Holiday - No one present from this committee.
5. Ski - Will get help from Recreation staff to assist with
making ski reservations, fliers, and putting together the ski
club. Will be the responsibility of the ski club to pusri trips
at schools.
6. Youth Commission Dinner - Date has not yet been set. At this
time would like to set date after graduation of Saratoga High
School and Redwood Junior High School on Thursday, June 14,
1989. Would like to go to an Italian restaurant.
7. Dance - No dates yet. Need to get on this right away to set
dates, themes, etc.
8. Publicity - Nothing yet.
9. Parade - No one present.
10. Skateboarding - Ramp is slowly proceeding and the tentative
date to be completed is mid-November. Several members of this
committee have met with Andy Berendsen (Professional
skateboarder and works for Santa Cruz Skateboards) to brain-
storm some ideas for rules/guidelines for use of the ramp.
The committee's suggestions and comments will be handed out
at the next meeting.
B. Committees need to have the following completed by the Oct. 16th
meeting.
1. Warner Hutton House - Date set to visit house
2. So. California - Have location{s) picked where they would
like to go.
3. Dance - Set a date.
4. Community - Start planning.
5. Ski - Get ideas, dates, and choose places.
6. Hakone - Get final idea for parade. Have a banner and several
posters. Parade is Sunday, Nov. 5, 1989. Route of parade is
Saratoga Ave. and Fruitvale to Big Basin Way and Wildwood
Park. Parade starts at 1:30 p.m. None of the members present
want to walk the parade route.
C. Goals for Heads of Committees - Let everybody on your committee
know what's going on.
III. ~~ Business
A. Mandatory Meeting - Monday, October 30, 1989
B. All members will receive a flier and a call to remind them about
meeting. Meeting will cover planning goals and achieving them.

IV. Adiournment
Meeting was adjourned at 7:24 p.m. Next meeting is scheduled for
Monday, October 30, 1989 at 7:00 p.m. in the Saratoga Community
Center (Senior Lounge.)
