None IIL APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. No minutes to be approved IV. OLD BUSINESS a. Curfew 1. The issue has been on hold until now 2. Summary a. ff child is not collected after a certain (specified) time, child abandonment law holds, and police are contacted b. The police will detain the youth until the pick up and verification of parents or guardians c. Parents would assume a felony charge, or other punishment enforceable by local law, that will remain to be enacted at the time of pick-up d. Express severity of curfew, and communicate solutions for the future with parents e. Research more consequences before enactment f. Other possibilities/alternitives i. Strike system ii. Polaroid's iii. Enforce ID rules b. Street Dance 1. Everyone works based on schedule 2. Selling out of booth 3. Keep an acxount of items sold c. Annual Appeal 1. Approximatety $6000 from 47 unique donors 2. More payment expected 3. More annual appeal letters to go out 4. "Thank you" letters will commence soon .~ '~ d. Rent-A-Copy has mixed arguments based on information concerning the public's awareness of Redwood dances vs. Community Center dances 5. Known that staff and commissioners should have mutual respect at dance events 6. Glow stick Resolution: Leaving rules as is; taking problem as it presents itself 7. Communication plans 1. E-mail will be new medium except for Farnum 2. Phone tree will be enacted b. Attic Pmject 1. City Council preliminarily passed that they will X125,000 matching funds 2. Grants are being written 3. 520,000 have been collected by Rotarians c. Safe Ride 1. Linda Davis (director of Safe Rides) not present d. Mission Statement 1. Mission Statement: "The Saratoga Youth Commission works towards providing programs and a lifestyle for youth in Saratoga, in addition to providing funding for the Warner Hutton House and various programs. Their goal is to upgrade the well being of local youth, provide positive influences for teens, and give opportunities for involvement in the community." e. Establish meeting plans for committees 1.
