CALL TO ORDER: 7:05 A. The agenda was posted on Friday, Apri14, 2003. B. Roll Call- All Present. II. CONIlVILTNICATION FROM THE PUBLIC Kathleen King: Cyber Rays Game- May 10- need volunteers or players. III. APPROVAL OF I\~IINUTES Motion: Skelly 2nd: Schwartz and Byrne: Minutes approved as read. IV. OLD BUSINESS A. Rotary Art Show 1. Reiko Iwanaga: brought sign-ups -work with Rotary to make money for SYC 2. Parents and siblings can help too 3. Must sign in and out for your hours to count -Minimum- 3 or 4 hours 4. Help Saturday AM May 5, and Sunday May 6 all day. B. Dance -Elise and Valerie 1. Next dance: April 25 2. Low attendance: only 240 people- made $200 3. Problems- middle schoolers find out why low attendance- o Other schools have dances o Freaking and dress code- encouraged Redwood students, discouraged other schools o Advertise in papers- "dress appropriately" 0 3 girls came drunk and had to be taken home by cops 4. Advertise in paper (with dress code?)- Advertise in Saratogan- encourage parents to chaperone, tell dress code and no freaking policy and concerts 5. How to improve attendance: Parents at Redwood feel not as good supervision; parents supervision? Someone from Saratoga News come in to dance and report- good report- good advertising? Send word to Taffy to encourage parents to come chaperone 6. Search bags- NO 7. Girls Bathroom -put a girl in girls bathroom and a boy in boys bathroom 8. DJ Communication- left a message for Djim about being there and leaving invoice C. Restaurant Night 1. Attendance- made $290 2. Worthwhile fundraiser- much better! More people went, learned from last fundraiser 3. Restaurant night in May- May 20~` at Fresh Choice, check with Florentines D. WHH Concert 1. Attendance- 48 people 2. Made $240- $70= $140 profit 3. Got 2 new bands to play in Music Fest 4. 18 from Prospect, 18 other, 2 Sazatoga, 5. What works- advertised in paper, flyers, posters at school V. NEW BUSINESS A. Music Fest May 17, 12-5 1. Lynbrook arts and crafts- sign up sheet- 21st 2. Prize money- we have $300: 1~ place: $150, 2nd place: $100, 3~d place: $50 3. T-shirts: deadline- April 14~- 100 shirts (cheaper) Logo design- youth commissioners can apply: Deadline is Monday, April 14 4. SYC selling drinks, 5. DJim dj in between? 6. PA System? Meeting to find out what equipment needed 7. Can invite clubs from Mitty- Italian Club 8. SHS culinary club? 9. Clubs keep all money- clubs not allowed to bring "Ethnic Foods"- must be packaged in order to sell 10. ADVERTISING! Newspapers, radio stations, flyers, posters in businesses 11. Taffy's sister- Tie- Dye 12. Elise look into Shazkie and Sharks players- deadline 18~' 13. Businesses: Go to local businesses for donations- up to 17'~ "recognize" logo on shirt 14. Bands: wrap up bands by 18~`- 10 bands 15. Katlyn Langstaff- sell CDs? 16. SHS Cheerleaders B. YAC Attack 2003 - 4/12/03 1. James, Phillip, Tami 2. Already paid for 3.
