A r,eeting of the Library Commission was held Wednesday evening,
June 24, 19$7. Following is a summary of the action taken..
I. Roll Call
All Commissioners were present except David Newby
II. Report on Pvstinq of Commission Aqenda
Carolyn King reported that the agenda had been posted on
June 19, 1987.
III. DId ausiness
A. Discussion of Acceptance of Feasibility Report an City-
operated Library
The Commission report prepared in April had been submitted
informally to City Council at that time. Following brief
discussion the Commission voted to re-submit the report as
written for formal acknowledgement by the Council on the
July 1 City Council r-Meeting agenda.
B. Discussion of f.y. 87/88 Library Budget
County Librarian Susan Fuller reported that the Board of
Supervisors passed the proposed library budget with no
+~uestions.
Commissioner Earbara blood reported that the hfonte Sereno
City Council has not yet voted on whether or not to fund
additional Sunday hours.

There was no new business

- Susan Fuller, County Librarian
Susan Fuller reported that C1) revenues for the coming year look
ample to support the new budget, and that the County is currently
in salary negotiations with employees, and (2) candidates to
replace the retiring Library Supervisor will be interviewed next
week.
Lois Thomas, Community _Library Supervisor
Lois Thomas reported t1l that the library held a successful
evacuation drill which was facilitated by having the new paging
syster-, and CZ) circulation statistics show a i8.5~ increase at
the library from March 86 to March 87.

Carolyn King reminded the Cor~rrission that the City now had a
monthly internal newsletter as well as the quarterly one sent
to all residents, and that the Commission can use these news-
letters when they have information to share with the Community.
Marilyn Kanemura , Chair
Marilyn Kanemura comriented on receipt of the City's new conflict
of interest policy which pertains to ali Commissionmembers.
She also discussed the recent article in the Saratoga Mews on
the library budget, and that she has followed up with a conver-
sation with the editor to correct several things which had been
reported incorrectly.
Marilyn Kanemura then presented Lois Thomas with a retirement gift
from the Commission. -
