Library Staff Present: Suaan Fuller, County Librarian;
Loris Thomas, Saratoga Librarian.
City Staff Present: Carolyn King.

TV. OLD BUSYNESS:
A. Kanesaura attended the 214.x'8f Counci3 meeting with
proposal fir handrailinglapotlight tprepared by Kings.
Proposal approved, work to begin next Fiscal Year.
B. 212'4.x'$? Joint. CommiasionlCouncil meeting all present
except Gandrud, Newby. There was a free-ranging
discussion on library issues. MSC Gandrud.IDyer that
"The Library Cammiesgion a~aendize any additional
discussion re the Feasibility Study for their meeting
immediately fo3lowinct receipt of a menno from the City
Council aibaut. Council wishes on this matter."
V . NEW BUSI3+iESS'
A. Currently pricsrit.ies fcsr FY~'$~ are being established
by the Council. Landscaping of
the grounds surrounding the building is being
considered for the Capital Improvements Budget.
B. Hrr~ Morrigon~'Mahler "The Library Commission rec~ue~st
that the City Council rasa a resolution declaring 29$?
"The Year of the Reader" in Saratoga." Recommended
aisa that the Council write to the Governor and ask
him to fully fund the Public Library Foundation and
the Literacy Programs portions of the State Budget.
C. Fuller at.atea that a Joint County Library
Com~ziaaionera Meeting is tentatively scheduled for
4.~13.r$T in Hilpitaa, with Congressman Mineta as
speaker, this t.o coincide with Nat'l Library Week.
D. 3. Presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to
Commisaionera Beverett, Mahler and Harrison in
recognition of their contributions to the Saratoga
Library.

VI. FiEPdFiTS:
A. Fuller: Cupertino Library to close ~.19~'$7 far
remodeling. Will reopen limited facilities ~l£,~'8^.r at
Eaton Schoo~3 on Suisun in Cupt.. Central Reference to
Campbell Lib. far the duration. Fcemodeling to take
approxiatately six mont.ha. S$CCLS Advisory Council has
been named co-winner by CLSB of an award far
excellence in serving the library community. S$C'CLS is
cooperating with the County Transportation Agency in
planning for placards on the County busses in
conjunction with National Library Week.
$. Thomas: The new computer is installed and operating.
Is much faster. She is pleased with how well the
pro3ect is going. Thomas announced that. she will be
retiring in June.
C. Kings: Advised that next month the Commission will need
t.o discuss its proposed expenses for next year.
