Lighting project in the parking area is completed. 2. Water blasting and covering exterior of building with a clear sealant has not yet started. II. NEW BUSINESS A. Marilyn Kanemura met with Diane McKenna,. County Supervisor, and her aides Scott Fuller and Eleanor Pett to discuss library financing. 1. One of the questions: "How much overhead is charged to each library within the County Library System?" 2. Supervisor McKenna was encouraged to maintain open communication between city councils and county supervisors. B. Fritz Knipe, Chairman of the County Library Commission, will be invited by letter to attend one of our meetings by Chairman Kanemura. C. Letter sent to Saratoga City Council by Chairman Kanemura enumerating our priorities. (See minutes of January 22 meeting) 1. All Saratoga Commissions and local community organizations did the same. 2,. A briefer list was then compiled by City Manager Peacock and Mayor Clevenger. a. Subheading in completed list: "Leisure Services" which included (1) Support of Recreation. (2) Support of the arts. (3) City support of the Library. (4 )Support of Seniors. D. Chairman Kanemura stated at Febxuary 18 meeting of Commission ~:hairmen and Cityataff that the Library needs both its financial support ana non-dollar support. E. Meeting to`be held at Campbell Library, Saturday, April 19, 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 by library-commissions. F. COUNTY LIBRARY. FIVE YEA~4 OPERATING PLAN. Susan Fuller. A comp- r pensive plan to instigate changes, and with the vitally needed help from the General Fund especially in FY87 and FY88 (as well as other funding) to gradually take the County Library system into financial stability within five years. 1. Election of Commission Officers for 1986/87. 1. MOTION by .Dick. Dyer: That the rules be changed to: "The Chairman of the Library Commission shall serve a one .Year term with a two ear successive maximum". Seconded by Newby. Passed unanimously. 2. Marilyn K~tihemura was nominated for Chairman of the Library Commission for the second year. Elected unaimously. 3. Dick Dyer"teas nominated for Vice Chairman. Elected unanimously. 4. Marybeth Gandrud was nominated for Secretary. Elected unanimously. ITI. MONTHLY REPORTS A. City Council meeting, February 19. Marilyn Kanemura recommended that the City Council w•ite to Governor Deukmejian, Senators Nielsen and A~rgan, and Assemblyman Konnyu requesting full funding of the Public Library Fund. B. City Council Observer on March 5 and 19th -- David Newby. C. Saratoga Community Library Supervisor, Lois Thomas. 1. Cheril Mu~~ser (Office Management Coordinator) has left to work in the Registrar of Voters' Office. D. City Staff Representative, Joan Pisani. 1. Library C'omrassioners will not be required tb pay for reports of meeti~~s by City Council, Planning Commission, etc. 2. An "Actidn~T,og" (motions passed, voting, action taken) will be submitted by Joan Pisani to City Manager Peacock within 48 hours of the Library Commission's meetings.
