Library Staff Present: Lois Thomas. Janice Yee, Kanemura, Mahler, Acting County Librarian. City Staff Present: Joan Pisani. Called to Order: Marilyn Kanemura, Chairman. Community Rm. 6:35 P. M. Guests attending dinner meetings Mayor Martha Clevenger. City Staff Representative (Finance Advisory Committee) Steve Peterson. Finance Advisory Committee members: David de Carson and Robert Weiss. Supervisor McKenna's representative: Scott Forbes. A most lively and constructive dinner meeting was held to discuss the library in its relationship with the state, county and pity financial structures. Janice Yee reviewed the background and complexities of the allocation F08MULA as the starting point. I. Topics discussed by those present. A. The FORMULA. Key points expressed during the meeting. A. Mayor Martha Clevenger stated that the City Council is xorried about cost~,whieh increase yearly. She would like the Library Commission to make a report on the cost of Saratoga establishing and maintaining its own library as compared to the present county branch. B. August 28, 1985 r C. Imo. Weiss has consulted ~. Fenton, one of the county analysts, and received data which he gill pass on to the g'inancial Advisory Committee. The Committee will review this data and its relation to their report. D, Mr. Forbes said that County F,zecutive Sally reed is establishing a task force to study the County Library System. F. Mrs. Kanemura suggested that the task force might address the matter of stable and adequate funding in order that the county library branches would know how much they could expect. California Library Association Conference, Oakland. Nov. 16--20 A. Let Commissioner Kanemura know by the next Library Commission meeting (Sept. 25) whether you plan to attend. B. Joan Pisani reminded the commissioners that the City of Saratoga will pay for registration and luncheon. III. The Library Commission Hanual will be ready at our neat meeting.
