Library staff Presents Lois Thomas Janice Yee, Acting County Librarian. City Staff Presents Joan Pisani Called to Orders Marilyn Kanemura, Chairman. Community Boom, 7:12 PM Minutes of May 22 meeting were corrected. I. OLD BUSINESS A. BU~7GET. Janice Yee. 1. County Board of supervisors has augmented the 1985/86 county library budget with addition of X170,000 from the general fund a. . This includes the unincorporated area's share of the deficit plus X4,500 for each library in the county system. b. The Supervisors also added X66,000 from the supplementary tea roll (new revenues to the county library budget fund. c. Consequently Saratoga Library will receive x'1,753 from the above. 2. Saratoga Community Library budget fund for 1985/86 will also include a. The formula share of revenues. b. 0,000 fr®m C1ty of Saratoga. c. , 000 from City of 1Kc~nte Sereno. NOTES All budget funds are to be used basically to MAINTAIN SEBVICE LEVELS. 3. Saratoga Library deficit will be over ~-19,000. a. The Friends of the Library are expecting to give X10,000 to partly offset the deficit. b. The new microcomputer system will help reduce expenditures. B~ PARKING LOT ADDITION. Joan Piaa~ni. 1. Lowest bid was $41 819. Made by Cushman Construction. X9,319 over the 32,500 available. a. Mr. aobert S. Shook, Director of Community Development, suggested that three of the parking lot lights be deleted from the bid and that it be presented to the City Council on July 17. b. The three lights will be purchased separately, with possible financing through federal agency HCDA. C. SUNDAY LTBBABY 3EBVTCES. Marilyn Kanemura. 1. Chairman Kanemura and Janice Yee attended the City Council meeting June 5 where our request for X14,173 for sunday services funding was presented by Council member Joyce I~i.ava. a. 14,200 was approved for Sunday hours. b. x$220,000 was approved to help reduce the deficit for 1985/86. c. Both amounts are to be funded by Flevenue Sharing. D. FINANCE ADVI808Y COMMITTEE REP08T. Marilyn Kan®mura. 1. Grants,, direct mail fund-raising,., axed annual "bash" were discussed. 3. To be ongoing. Hope to also raise image of library in public's consciousness. 4.
