Commissioner Beverett reported on task force recommendations out- lining the role of the Library Commissioneas to organization, operation, basic responsibilities, duties, and relationship to City. The task force will develop a draft to present first to the Commission, which, upon approval, will be forwarded to the City Council with the recommendation to make the "role of the Commission" a part of the public record. Mary Moss displayed architect's drawings for a property sign and an overhang for the book drop. The Commission recommended in- stallation of two signs; 1) a small sign identifying the entrance to library parking which would be lighted and lettered on both sides, and 2) a large sign - lighted, approximately 6 feet high, and lettered "Saratoga Community Library" - for the front of the library positioned between the walkway and the sidewalk. The Commission approved plans for the overhang. Janice Yee, County Librarian, reported on the anticipated budget deficit, The county library system will face a deficit of approximately $450,000; Saratoga's share of the deficit will be $67,000.
