The minutes were distributed, read and approved. Commissioner Beverett welcomed Joan Pasoni as our liason to the city, who will be attending the Commission meetings . Barbara Campbell was then called upon to dive her views on a possible Sunday service. In her memorandum the cost for this service per week, including staffing and utilities would be `242.20. She further suggested it might be tried for either 19 weeks; 1/10 through 5/23.($4,621.00)or 15 weeks, 1/10 through 4/25($3,648.00). It was put to discussion among the commission members. A question directed to Ms. Campbell concerned the Cupertino Sunday service: t~dhere is the source of money for this service? Since this library is the only County library open on Sundays a certain portion is funded by the state and also by the city of Cupertino. Its usuage is mostly by Cupertino residents. Another comment made was the lacK of interest by Saratoga residents in using the Cupertino library on Sunday. Also it would seem unwise to provide Sunday service and then discontinue it in the event funds would not be available in r;ay. There was also concern among the commiss- ion about the book budget and the decrease in book purchases a~z~fl: t`,:at in a memo the Council should be _ made aware of this fact as well as the other services that have been cut back ie~tapes, records. The question was then put to vote as follows: Is the concensus of opinion favorable to a Sunday service with the remainder' of the money to be used for additional books? The suggestion was voted down in a three ac.?ainst, two for and one abstention. A second question was put to vote: Should the funds available ($5,909.00) be used for tangibles such as additional books, and perhaps the return of tape service including :Wore tape purchases.? The vote Four in favor, Two against. Chairman Moss has been requested to present this recommendation to the Council along with the figures as stated in Ms. Campbell's memorandum. Barbara Campbell made a few comments concerning the closing of the village. It will be closed as stated December 4 and the move will be made with the assistance of a crew of young people from the Juvenile Probation Dept. , properly chaperoned, completing the move by January 31, 1982. Lois Thomas reported the bid for changing the front door is over $6,006.0 ;r sax thousand) by Federal funds for easier access by the handicapped. It was suggested that our regular meeting time might be changed to an earlier time. All agreed. The meeting adjourned at 6;20 p.m. with the remainder of the agenda being tabled for the next regular meeting. _ Respectfully submitted, ~4i1 Morrison, secretary.
