A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TME CITY OF SARATOGA
RELATING TO PROPOSED STATE LEGISLATION R~UIRING EXCLb~ION
OF AGRIC~TURAL LANDS FROM EXISTING CITIES (A.,B.! 319)
WHEREAS"~ there has been introduced into the Assembly of the State
of California a bill, known as A.B. 319, w.hich would.. re-
quire a County Board of Supervisors to withdraw and exclude
from the territory of existing cities certain lands called
agricultural, and
WHEREAS such legislation, if enacted, would create for the city
concerned intolerable and impossible problems of planning,
zoning, street and road work, drainage, and. other related
activities, rendering the effective and economical
government of such cities nearly impossible, and
WHEREAS~. such legislation. neither could nor would in any way
remedy the alleged financial hardships affecting agricult-
urists, nor would it effect a lasting conservation of
agricultural soils,
NOW~, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVE by the City Council of the City of
as follows :.
SECTION 1. That the City Council officially and. firmly opiT~oses
the adoption of A.B. 319, or any other legislation
similarly contrived or intended, and
SECTION 2. That the Mayor of the City of Saratoga be, and he is
hereby authorized and empowered to take any and+ all actions
deemed by him proper and expedient to procure the defe~t of
A.B. 319 or any similar legislation, and that in such
endeavors the Mayor shall be considered to speak for and. on
behalf of the City Council of the City of Saratoga.
The foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and passed
by the Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the
4th day of March ., 1959, by the following vote:~
