WH~S,the capacity of Sta. te Sign Route ~9
Route 114) from Et Caminc Real to the Sa.~atoga-Lcs G.~tos Road
Saratoga is cum~rently, and has for a long time past been, wholly
inadequate to carry safely the volume' of traffic imposed on it,
and
W~~., this condition of dater and inadequacy has 'been
and will comti~.ue bo be a matter of great concern to the City Council
of Saratoga, and
WHEEE~S, 'bhe residents of Saratoga have, by petition, made
known their awareness of this vital need and have expressed their
desire that the highway be widened immediately, gild have asked the
City Council of Saratoga to support such a demand, and
WiE~%S, the City Council of Sara. toga Is and has long been
convinced that the need for major improvements on State Highway ~Y:9
is of the utmost urgency, and
WHBtS, The Council is informed that this program has the
active support of many other cities and citizens concerned., and
the suppom~t of those business firms whose employees must ~se this
highway, and
WHEEK~., the City of Sa~atoga is convinced that Sts~.te Sign
Route #9 as presently designated must and should remain a part of the
St.ate Highway System In order to serve adequately the citize~s of
California who wish access to public recreational facilities in the
Skyline Boulevard area,
NOW, TIEFO~ BE iT RESOLd, by the Council of the City
of Saratoga that the State Highway Commission is hereby urgently re-
quested to allocate funds and proceed forthwith to improve State Sign.
Route #9 from E1 Camino Real to the Saratoga-Los Gatos Road to a safe
four-lane highway.

The above and foregoing Resolution was duly and. regularly
introduced and passed by the Council of the City of Saratoga at
a regular meeting held on the 15th day of April, 1959, by the
following vote::
