RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
REQUESTING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE TO REPEAL
CERTAIN SECTION OF THE LABOR CODE RELATING TO PUBLICATION
OF PREVAILING WAGES
WHEREAS, Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California
requires that "The body awarding any contract for public work, or otherwise
undertaking any public work, shall ascertain the general prevailing rate of
per diem wages in the locality in which the public work is to be performed
for each craft or type of workmen needed to execute the contract, and shall
specify in the contract itself, what the general prevailing rate of per diem
wages and the general prevailing rate for legal, holiday, and overtime work
in the locality is for each craft or type of workmen needed to execute the
contract.", and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saratoga is of the opinion that
mandatory establishment of a general prevailing wage scale for public works
projects is an unnecessary interference with labor-management relations,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby call
upon the Legislature of the State of California to repeal Section 1773 of
the Labor Code.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
passed by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held
on the 4th day of October, 1967, by the following vote:
