A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOC~
ADOPTING POLICIES AND PROGRAMS PERTAINING TO SARATOGA -
LOS GATOS ROAD AS AN OFFICIAL STATE SCENIC HIGHWAY.
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga has requested, in cooperation with
the City of Monte Sereno and the County of Santa Clara, the State of Calif-
ornia to designate Saratoga-Los Gatos Road as an Official Scenic Highway with
related Scenic Corridor, and
~tEREAS, in order to establish Saratoga-Los Gatos Road as a Scenic
Highway, certain policies must be adopted and implemented by the three juris-
dictions involved, namely the County of Santa Clara, the City of Monte Sereno
and the City of Saratoga,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that subject to agreement with the
authorities of the State of California as to the measures heroin outlined, the
City Council of the City of Saratoga, County of Santa Clara, State of California,
declares its intention to take the following actions to protect the scenicI
values of those portions of the corridor now within its jurisdiction and those
portions which may come within its jurisdiction in the future:
(A) ~nendment of the Saratoga General Plan Report to include
an element pertaining to development and protection of Scenic Highways and
Corridors in Saratoga and designated by location on the General Plan Map.
(B) Initiate a program as soon as possible to convert all existing
overhead utility lines to underground installation either related to road
improvement projects or independent area projects.

(C) When property is proposed to be developed or public improve-
ments are to be installed lying within the designated Scenic Corridor of a
State Scenic Highway or County Scenic Road site plan or improvement plan,
review shall specifically consider the appearance of the development as
viewed from the road or highway, so that service yards, parking areas,
utility ta~s or other such features will be inconspicuously located or
will be screened from view from the highway. The review should also con-
sider avoiding blockiB~ important views from the road, or possibly opening
new views.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Saratoga held on
the 6 day of December , 1967, by the following vote:
AYES: Glennon, Robbins, and Tyler

ABSENT: Burry and Hartman
