RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING COMPENSATION FOR CITY ATTORNEY
The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby resolves as follows:
SECTION 1: Commencing with the fiscal year 1967-68, and for each fiscal year
thereafter until changed by resolution, the compensation for the
City Attorney shall be as follows:
(A) BASIC RETAINER AND SERVICES COVERED:
The sum of $9,500.00 per year, payable at the rate of $790.00 per month
(with any accrued unpaid balance payable with the last payment of each
fiscal year), to cover the following services:
Attendance at two Council meetings per month;
Attendance at City Offices two afternoons per month, on such days as
agreed upon between the City Attorney and the City Administrator;
Preparation of ordinances, resolutions, contracts and agreements, the
rendering of opinions, general discussions on city business, answering
various legal questions oI the citenzry on city business, and prosecution
of criminal cases.
(B) ADDITIONAL SERVICES:
In addition to the foregoing, compensation shall be paid for the following
services, to be termed additional services, at the following rates:
(1) For all special studies and reports, liaison work, meeting with
public groups on city business, negotiations on contracts or
other matters on behalf of the city, organization of assessment
and other special districts, and prosecution and defense of civil
actions, at a zatep~r~hour for all non-Court work in an amount
equal to the San~tC~ara County Bar Association minimum hourly
fee, less $5.00;an~ At the Santa Clara County Bar Association
minimum fee for all Court work.
(2) For appearance at any regular or special Planning Commission or
Council meetings in excess of that covered by the basic retainer,
at the rate of $20.00 per hour save and except that in no event
shall the fee for any such meeting be in excess of $60.00 regard-
less of the length of said meeting.
SECTION 2: All office expenses, including supplies, secretarial, travel time
and other overhead, shall be covered by and included in the above
fees.
SECTION 3: The City Attorney may appoint one or more Deputy City Attorneys to
carry out any of the above set forth functions, but the City Attorney
shall be directly responsible to the City for the satisfactory performance of the
same, and he shall be responsible to any such Deputy or Deputies for all payment
of their fees and charges out of and from the above set forth compensation of
the City Attorney.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and passed
by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the
19th day of July, 1~67, by the following vote:
