I~ESOL[ITION Cl~EATING PARKS AND RECREATION

The City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby resolve as follows:
S_e._c~t__~n. !: There is hereby established and areated a Parks and Recreation
Con~mission of the City of SaratoEss which shall be known as
THE SARATOGA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSIONs which shall consist of seven (7)
members to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Co~mcil.
Se.~_c_t_i~o_ll 2z Upon the first appointment of members to the Parks and Recreation
C~mission, three members shall be appointed for a term of one
years and four members for a term of two years. Thereafter, successors to the
first members shall be appointed for two year terms,
S_ec.tt_on. 3: The powers of the Parks and Recreation Canmission are advisory
only and it shall render all reports and reconnnendations directly
to the City Countlie unless othewise directed by the Council. The Cormnission does
not constitute a planninE agency with the terms and meaning of Government Code
Section 65100 of the State of California. The Cormlesions' powers and duties, in
such advisory capacity to the City Council, shall include the following:
(a) to recommend a parks and recreation programs and the pro~ranrnin~
and implementation thereoft to the Council;
(b) advise the Council specifically on design, use, development,
financings care and maintenance of parks and playgroundsl land-
scaping along thoroughfares and other City streets; walkways,
pathwayss equestrian pathss streambodes protection and promuta-
tion of treess end such other matters as may be requested by the
Council.
Se~c.~t~_._4: The Parks and Recreation Cc~mission shall meet reEularly on the
first and third Monday of each month and at such other times as
the ConTaisston desiress and establish its own rules of order, conduct of business
and procedure. Roberrs' Rules of Order shall be followed on all matters pertain-
ing to parliamentary procedures unless otherwise established by the Co~nission.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and reEularly introduced and passed
by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a reMular meetinS held on the 15th
day of May, 1968, by the foliowinE vote:
