RESOLUTION N0. 563
A RESOLUTION DIRECTING PREPARATION
OF INVESTIGATION REPORT UNDER
DIVISION ~ OF THE STREETS AND
HIGHWAYS CODE
SARATOGA CAMPUS RECREATIONAL FACILITIES
ASSESSMENT DISTRICT
RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saratoga,
California, as follows:
1. That Harry F. Aumack, Jr., of Mark Thomas & Co.,
Inc., a competent person for this purpose, is hereby directed
to proceed and prepare such information as may be required
therefor, to make a report in the form set forth in Divi-
sion 4 of the Streets and Highways Code, for the acquisitions
and improvements hereinafter described, all as more particu-
larly described in Resolution No. 562 of Preliminary
Determination adopted by this Council on March
1971, to which resolution reference is hereby made for a
particular description of the general nature, location and
extent of the proposed acquisitions and improvements, of
the boundaries or extent of the district or lands to be
specially assessed to pay all the costs thereof, and of the
Statutes under which the proceedings therefor are proposed
to be conducted.
2. That said acquisitions and improvements are more
particularly described as follows:
A. ~kin~ Lots
The improving of the following portions of the Saratoga Campus of
the West Valley Community College District as offstreet parking
lots by grading and the construction thereon of pavement, curbs,
gutters, storm drainage facilities, planting and landscaping
facilities complete with automatic sprinkler irrigation systems,
and lighting facilities:
Lot No. 1
An area of land lying easterly of and near Fruitvale Avenue com-
mencing approximately 600 feet southerly of Allendale Avenue and
extending southerly about 820 feet, including the improving of an
access road southerly and adjacent thereto, extending from
Fruitvale Avenue easterly along said proposed parking lot, thence
continuing northeasterly and northerly to the Campus Center.
Lot No. 2
A parcel of land at the southeasterly intersection of Allendale
Avenue and Fruitvale Avenue, including the construction of an
identification sign.
Lot No. 3
Two parcels of land lying southeasterly of the existing perimeter
access road through the Campus lying between the proposed Field
Game Area and the existing Library and Warehouse and Maintenance
Center.
Lot No. 4
A parcel of land at the southwesterly comer of the Campus adjacent
to Fruitvale Avenue.
B. Athletic Recreation Field
The construction of an athletic recreation field in the southeast-
erly area of the Campus easterly ofthe existing tennis courts,
by grading and the installation and construction of turfing, auto-
matic sprinkler irrigation system, erosion control facilities,
storm drainage system, chain link fence, goal posts, equipment
shed, bleachers, and appurtenances.
C. Running Track
The construction of a running track around the proposed athletic
recreation field, including concrete curbing, track runways and
track surfacing.
D. Baseball Field
The construction of a baseball field southerly of Parking Lot
No. 1, by grading and the construction of and installation of curb-
ing, turfing, automatic sprinkler irrigation system, storm drainage
system, retaining walls, chain link fence, back stop, dugout and
storage areas, guard rails, bleachers, and appurtenances.
E. Tennis Courts
The construction of eight (8) tennis courts immediately easterly of
Parking Lot No. 4, with synthetic surfacing on blacktop, fencing,
lighting, and nets.

F. Handball Courts
The construction of handball courts northerly of the athletic
recreation field and running track~ by excavation and the con-
struction of concrete floors and walls, and necessary drainage
facilities.
G. Challenge Course
The construction of a challenge course immediately northerly of
said handball courts, including grading and the construction of
sand bed, concrete curbing, challenge course equipment, drainage
system, and A.C. paving.
H. Field Game Areas (Football Practice, Soccer and Hockey Fields)
The construction of a field game area southerly of proposed Park-
ing Lot No. 3 at the southeasterly corner of the Campus, by
grading, turfing, sprinkler irrigation systems, erosion control
facilities~ storm drainage facilities, chain link fencing, goal
posts (football, soccer and hockey), football tackling foundations,
softball back stops, and portable bleachers.
I. Golf Area
The construction of a golf practice area westerly of the handball
and challenge course areas, by the construction of a putting
green, driving nets, golf tee areas, and appurtenances.
J. Archery Field
The construction of an archery range area immediately southerly
of the baseball field, by grading and the construction of turfing,
sprinkler irrigation facilities, erosion control facilities, and
storm drainage facilities.
K. Swimmin.~ Pool Bleachers
The construction of bleachers along the westerly side of the exist-
ing swimming pool, consisting of concrete structure with plastic
benches.
L. Fencing
The construction of a perimeter chain link fence along the east-
erly line of the Campus from an angle point northerly of the
existing warehouse and maintenance center and running in a
generally southerly direction to the south boundary of the Campus,
thence westerly about 300 feet.
M. Pathwax System
The construction of a system of interconnecting pathways to pro-
vide pedestrian access among the various foregoing facilities.
N. Auxiliary
The acquisition of all lands and easements and the construction
of all work auxiliary to any of the above and necessary to complete
the same.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a full, true
and correct copy of Resolution duly passed and adopted by
the City Council of the City of Saratoga, California, at a
