WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga is concerned that its residents are being
displaced by the destruction of their rental housing without adequate housing
alternatives available to remain a part of this community; and,
WHEREAS, the public interest will be served by retaining these residents
as members of the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY FOUND, DETERMINED AND ORDERED, as follows:
(t) That the City communicate with the landowner and urge him to permit
the tenants to remain in the leased premises up to the time just
prior to destruction of the premises;
(2) That the City contact churches of Saratoga, CASA, and any other
organizations or groups interested in housing for minorities and
low income groups to determine if housing is available within
Saratoga for those Saratogans in question being displaced;
(3) That the City contact the Santa Clara County Housing Authority for
assistance in the search for adequate housing within Saratoga for
those Saratogans being displaced.
(4) That the City continue its own efforts to find substitute housing
within Saratoga for the Saratogans being displaced from the Galeb
Property who desire assistance from the City.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
passed by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on
the 18th day of August, 1971, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Robbins, Smith, Dwyer, Bridges
NOES: None
