RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA
HIGHWAY COMMISSION CONTINUE THE FAS-
URBAN EXTENSION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, it has been recommended to the California Highway
Commission that the FAS-Urban Extension Program be discontinued;
and
WHEREAS, the existing FAS-Urban Extension Program is a success-
fully operating program; and
WHEREAS, a new FAU System Program has been initiated by the
Federal Government which makes additional highway funds available
to local agencies; and
WHEREAS, the interim FAU System includes sufficient State
highway mileage to fully utilize the current FAU apportionment;
and
WHEREAS, a 1972 Highway Needs Study is in process of being
prepared for submission to Congress which will generate new
recommendations regarding federal aid systems and associated
financing;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Saratoga of the
County of Santa Clara that the California Highway Commission be
encouraged to continue the FAS Urban Extension Program and use
FAU Funds on State highways until such time as the 1972 Highway
Needs Study is completed and the recommendations relating to
restructuring and reallocating highway funds are available.
The above and foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and
thereafter passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Saratoga held on the 19th, the of January~
1972, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Robbins, Smith, Dwyer, Bridges, Kraus
