A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SARATOGA ENDORSING THE PASSAGE OF THE STATE BEACH, PARK,
RECREATIONAL AND HISTORICAL FACILITIES BOND ACT OF 1974
WHEREAS, the State Beach, Park, Recreational and Historical Facilities Bond
Act of 1974 will be presented to the voters of the State of California on the June 4
(primary) ballot; and
WHEREAS, provisions of Chapter 912 of the Statutus of 1972 provides that
$90,000,000 of the total $250,000,000 will be available for grants to cities, counties
and districts for the acquisition and development of recreation, park and historical
areas and facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara. County Board of Supervisors has established a formula
for allocating shares and on August 15, 1973 the City Council of the City of Saratoga
approved this formula; and
WHEREAS, based on population figures, the City of Saratoga. will be eligible to
receive $71,198 of the $4,915,633 allocated to Santa Clara County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga has a Park Development Capital Improvement Program
that would profit greatly from the use of these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission has gone on record as
supporting the Bond Act and has submitted a project for approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
go on record as endorsing the passage of Proposition One which is the State Beach,
Park, Recreational and Historical Facilities Bond Act of 1974; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga urge the
residents of Saratoga to approve the Bond Act by voting in favor of Proposition One
on the June 4 ballot.
The above and foregoing resolution was adopted by the City Council of the City
of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the 17th day of April , 1974, by the
following vote:
