RESOLUTION NO. 728
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SARATOGA OPPOSING THE INCLUSION OF
THE WEST VALLEY FREEWAY CORRIDOR AS AN
EXPRESSWAY OR FREEWAY IN THE COUNTY TRANSIT PLAN
WHEREAS, there has been some public misunderstanding of the County Transit
Plan's inclusion of certain charts which indicate the West Valley Corridor as an
expressway or freeway; and
WHEREAS, the expressway or freeway violates the quality of life in Saratoga
and Santa Clara Valley; and
WHEREAS, the proposed freeway is counter-productive to ending the Energy
Crisis, pollution control, and solving the need for mass transit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
opposes the inclusion of the West Valley Freeway Corridor as an expressway or
freeway in the Transit Plan of the County, and recommends that the Corridor be
used only as a fixed guide rail, if it is crucial to the Transit Plan of the
County; and it disagrees with the concept of increasing Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road
to a 6 to 8-lane freeway.
