A Resolution of the City Council of the City
of Saratoga Thanking Jean Woodward
for her Contributions to the Community
WHEREAS, Jean Woodward has served the citizens of Saratoga as a Planning
Commissioner since her appointment in 1973, as a member of the Parks and Recreation
Commission from 1970-73 of which she was Chairperson in her last year on the
Commission, as a designee to the Trails and Pathways Task Force in 1974, and as
a member of the Citizen's Committee on Parks and Recreation in 1962; and
WHEREAS, Jean has freely and generously extended her services to a number
of community organizations during the 16 years she has lived in the City which
encompasses her involvement from 1961-1974 at Eastfield Children's Center for
emotionally handicapped children where she served as Treasurer, 1st Vice-President,
2nd Vice-President, and President Elect, her tenure on the PTA Committee and Board
of Argonaut, Congress Springs and Redwood Schools, her current service as Outreach
Coordinator at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church and her past service as President
of the Saint Andrews Church Women from 1966-68, and her participation in the American
Indian Program from 1968-71; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her manifold contributions to both community and
civic affairs, the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce bestowed upon her the 19~ Citizen
of the Year award; and
WHEREAS, in a far deeper vein, Jean has distinguished herself to all who
have come to know her as a committed and caring individual whose perception, attitude,
concern and desire have enhanced the deliberations of the Planning Commission and
have eased considerably these times of stress; and
WHEREAS, the City has been fortunate to borrow on her outstanding reputation
of contributions and service and as a result is infinitely richer both in the respect
from its citizenry and from the spirit she leaves with the Commissions, Council
and staff;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
does hereby extend its heartfelt thanks to JEAN WOODWARD for all that she has given
the Saratoga conmunity, and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
The above and fDregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the%lI day
