A Resolution of the City of Saratoga in support
of Senate Bill No. 573, which continues funding
of Community Transit Services under Article 4.5
of the Transportation Development Act.
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga provides special transit services
to its transportation deficient elderly and handicapped citizens
which are primarily funded by Transportation Development Act, Article
4.5 monies; and,
WHEREAS, the City has joined with the Town of Los Gatos and the
City of Monte Sereno to provide a comprehensive and coordinated
special transportation service (Transit ASSIST) which evidences a
steadily increasing ridership; and,
WHEREAS, the Transit ASSIST Program relies upon Article 4.5
funding for its continued operation; and,
WHEREAS, Senate Bill No. 573, introduced by Senator Mills con-
tains provisions that would continue funding of Community Transit
Services under Article 4.5 of the Transportation Development Act; and,
WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Paratransit Coordinating Council
has endorsed SB 573;
NOW, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Saratoga in order to pre-
serve and improve upon its Transit ASSIST efforts which provide
special transportation services to the elderly and handicapped
officially supports SB 573; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Saratoga urges the
California Legislative to adopt Senate Bill 573 so that the Transpor-
tation deficient residents of the participating jurisdictions may
continue to remain independent and useful residents of the Community.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Saratoga this 3rd day of June, 1981, by the following vote:
