A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
SUPPORTING COUNTY ~ASURE A ON THE NOVEMBER 8, 1983, BALLOT
WHEREAS, because of the growing population and increased concern
for law and order, the jail facilities of Santa Clara County are not
adequate to meet the County needs; and
WHEREAS, the Ceunty has been faced with court orders to provide
additional capacity in the jail and meet minimum requirements;
WHEREAS, the County lacks adequate funds for providing additional
jail space needed under current revenue restrictions and has, therefore,
placed a special tax measure on the ballot to raise the funds needed;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Saratoga supports the effort to
improve the quality of our law enforcement services by providing
sufficient space to house prisoners,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council supports
County special tax Measure A on the November 8, 1983, ballot, and urges
residents of the con~nunity of Saratoga to considervotingforthismeasure.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular
meeting of the Saratoga City Council held on the 19th day of October,
1983, by the following vote:
