RESOLUTION NO. 2121
~, the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce has, with its usual excellent judgment,
selected
PEGGYOORR
as Saratoga Citizen'of the Year f~r 1983, and
M~AS, Peggy has contributed much to Saratoga and, indeed, to every c(mmunity
in which she has lived, and
WHEREAS, these oontributio~s to Saratoga include activities oriented toward
her first priority, her family, such as serving as Troop Leader and Neighborhood
Chairman fcr Girl Scouts for eight years, as ~nericans Abroad Chairman for Saratoga
High School for four years, ar~ as a menbear of the Board of Directors of Episcopal
Chur~ through St. Andreds Episcopal Church, and
WP~REAS, Peggy has also devoted many hours of service to the Ming Quong Guild,
the Foothill Club, Friends of the Saratoga Libraries, Soroptimist International,
the Advisory Board of Our Lady of Fatima Villa, and other worthwhile causes,
WHEREAS, she has participated in civic affairs by serving as President of the
League of Wcmen Voters, board reintuber of the ~merican ASsociation of University
Women, and officer in various political groups, and
W}~REAS, she has capped her career in government involvement by beccrning Saratoga' s
first wcman Ck)uncilmember, serving for a year as an appointed CoLmcilmenber
and four years as an elected ODuncilmenber, and
WP~F~AS, she has since continued her ccmmmnity involVenent by serving on the -
Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council, the Saratoga TWenty-Fifth Anniversary
Oan~ittee, and the Saratoga Sister City Cnmnittee, and
~, it is clear that Peggy Corr exemplifies the best of those who manage
to combine a full ccumi~_~nt to both family life and the cc~munity, with each
enriching and providing perspective for the other.
NOW, TaEREFCeE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saratoga City Council is pleased and
proud to congratulate PEGGY CORR as our city' s Citizen of the Year for 1983.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and ~dopted at a regular meeting
of the Saratoga City Oouncil held on the 15th day of February, 1984, by the
following vote:
