CONCERNING GIRL SCOUT I~ADER'S DAY
WHEREAS, the major purpose of Girl Scouts of the United States of America is
to offer a progreta of informal education designed to develop the planning ar, d
decision-making abilities girls need to succeed in a constantly changing world,
WHEREAS, Girl Scout volunteer leaders fozm skilled partnerships with girls,
WHEREAS, Girl Scout volunteer leaders possess the imagination and self-confidence
required for successful, ccxnpetent leadership, and
WHEREAS, Girl Scout volunteer leaders provide positive role models for today' s
girls and young wcmen, and
WHEREAS, Girl Scout volunteer leaders help girls experience the excitement
of new possibilities, new acccmplis~nents, and new relationships with others,
WHEREAS, Girl Scout volunteer leaders encourage girls to develop a grc~ing
confidence that enables them to meet today's challenges and to becc~e tc~orrow's
competent self-assured women.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the purpose of this day is to give girls,
their families, and the cfmmunity the opportunity to recognize and honor Girl
Scout leaders for their important work, and
BE IT ~ RESOLVED, that April 27, 1984, be celebrated as Girl Scout Leader's
Day in Saratoga.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the Saratoga City
Council at a regular meeting held on the 4th day of April , 1984, by the following
vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Callon, Clevenger, Mallory and Mayor Pro Tern Fanelli
