~ING WEEK OF THE YOLlqG CHILD
WHEREAS, the Peninsula ~Chapter of the Association for the Education of Young
Children, to call attention to the need for quality care and education of
the young, has designated the week of April 23-28, 1984, as the '~qeek of
the Young Child," and
WHEREAS, the importance of the observance is undeniable since the future
of our nation depends on the way our children are reared. This delightful,
awesome responsibility belongs, first of all, to parents, and
WHEREAS, a child should be appreciated for what he or she is and what he
or she has the potential to become. The hcme, the school and the ccnmunity
should coperate to help children develop positive learning goals and respect
for other persons, evaluate their strengths and needs and personal relationships,
and provide them with realistic and challenging opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Saratoga
that April 23-28, 1984, is proclaimed as the "Week of the Young Child" in
Saratoga. All citizens are urged to help the young achieve a useful and
admirable adulthood.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting
of the Saratoga City Council held on the fourth day of April, 1984, by the
follcwing vote:
AYES: CounciLmenkers Callon, Clevenger, Mallory and Mayor Pro Tern Fanelli
NOES: None
ABSENT: Mayor Foyles
