RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CfX~CIL fF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
~ING CARRIE STEINSEIFER
WHEREAS, Carrie Steinseifer has succeeded in winning two gold medals
at the 1984 Olympic Gsmes in'her chosen sport of swinming, and
WHEREAS, these medals represent both Carrie's individual win in the
wcmen's 100-meter freestyle and her teamwork as a member of the women' s
400-meter relay, and
WHEREAS, these latest accc~pli~ts are in a~dition to her winning,
in~1983, three 'gold medals h'the Pan-American Games in Caracas and three
gold med~_als in*the Pan-Pacific' Gsmes in"Tokyo, which were awarded to
her in'both games f~r the 100-meter freestyle, the four x one hundred
freestyle relay, and the 'four x one hundred medley relay, and
~, Saratoga is very proud of all its young people who are willing
to put forth great efforts on behalf of their sports, and
WHEREAS, Saratoga is therefore most pleased to claim Carrie'as a Saratogan,
not only as an Olympic'gold medal winner, but as one of our most dedicated
athletes.
NC~, THEERE, HE IT RESOLVED, that the City-Council of the City of
Saratoga 'congratulates
~n her two Olyapic gold medals and wishes her the best of luck in' the
future, both in'athletics and in'her other fields of endeavor.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular
meeting of the Saratoga City .Council'held on the 15th day of August,
1984, by the 'fotlc~ing vote:
