RESOLUTION 0g THE CITY COtI~IL OF THE CITY OF SARATOC.~
CCM~I~DING CAROL KARLSON OF FOOTHILL SCHOOL
WI~I~AS, Santa Clara County's seventeenth annual Teacher Recognition
Day is on September 28, 1986, and
WHEREAS, Carol Karlson, a teacher at Foothill School in Saratoga, was
chosen to receive an award on that day for excellence in presenting
education to her students, and
WHEREAS, the goals of Teacher Recognition Day are to increase public
awareness of the important responsibility our teachers have in
formulating ideals and goals among the yo ; to understand that many of
the strongths and weaknesses of our count~ future leaders are greatly
dependent upon the mental, spiritual and leadership qualities of our
teachers; to recognize the many years of exacting training necessary for
teachers to prepare for their profession; to recognize publicly our
appreciation of the many fine educational achievements of our teachers;
and to encourage a greater understanding between our young people and
those responsible for helping to realize their ideals and goals, thus
helping to bridge the apparent generation gap, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Karlson has furthered these objectives as a resource
specialist teacher in many ways, such as serving as President of the
Saratoga Teachers Association, expendlug great efforts on the
furtherance of her professional education, and maintaining warm,
constructive relationships with her students, which is greatly
appreciated both by her students and their parents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Saratoga commends Ms. Carlson for her excellence as a teacher and
congratulates her on her award for Teacher Recognition Day.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular
meeting of the Saratoga City Council held on the 6th day of August,
1986, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmeul:ers Clevemqer, Petarson, and Mayor Hlava
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councils Anderson and F~pyles
