WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Lomas generously permitted the
Heritage Preservation Commission of the City of Saratoga to use
their residence, known as The Missionary Settlement House located
at 14683 Oak Street in Saratoga, as one of the Heritage Homes for
the 1986 Saratoga Heritage Home Tour, and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Lomas have preserved, restored, and
maintained this Queen Anne style cottage (constructed in 1897 by
Clarence George) in order to assist with the preservation of the
original Village of McCarthysville, and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Lomas have researched the history
of the structure for such details as traditional mouldings,
wallpaper, and other such items for their restoration through
photographs of the period, and have consulted with local
historians and other restoration carpenters, and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Lomas did accept the challenge of
having many interested persons of the community, who had an
interest in the City of Saratoga and its historic homes, tour
their residence on April 20, 1986, on behalf of the Heritage
Preservation Commission,
NOW, T~EREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saratoga City Council
extends its sincere appreciation, and hereby congratulates
MR. AND MRS. WOODROW LOMAS
as a 1986 Heritage Home Tour participant, for their special
interest and service to their community. The Council, on behalf
.. of the Heritage Preservation Commission and all of our citizens,
commends them and looks forward to their association with the
City of Saratoga for many more years.
This resolution was passed and adopted by the Saratoga City
Council at a regular meeting held on day of
, 1986, by unanimous vote.
