RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA DECLARING
THAT THE BOUNDARIES ENCOMPASSING THE CITY OF SARATOGA SHALL BE
INCLUDED WITHIN THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara and the City of Saratoga have an
extensive problem wlth rats, mosquitoes and other vectors, and
WHEREAS, rats, mosguitoes and other vectors have the potential of
transmitting malaria, encephalitis, plague and other vector-borne
diseases, and
WHEREAS, the County General Fund can no longer provide a stable
source of funding for operations to control rats, mosquitoes and
other vectors, and
WHEREAS, the effective control of rats, mosquitoes and other vectors
should be done on a county-wide basis in order to help protect the
health and safety and to enhance the comfort of the citizens of the
County and City, and
WHEREAS, there remains a continuing and important need for the
control of rats, mosquitoes and other vectors in Santa Clara County
and the City of Saratoga.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Saratoga City Council hereby
declares that the boundaries encompassing the City of Saratoga shall
be included within the Santa Clara County Vector Control DIstrict,
and shall participate in, and enjoy the benefits derived from, the
Santa Clara County Vector Control District.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a
meeting of the Saratoga City Council held on the 16th day of
December, 1987, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilm~rs Anderson, Clevenger, Hlava, Moyles and Mayor Peterson
