RESOLUTION NO. 2527
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
SUPPORTING THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA RIDGE TRAIL
WHEREAS, the Bay Area is a special place to live, in large part
because of the close interrelationship between cities and the
magnificent open landscape of the region; and
WHEREAS, the Bay Area Ridge Trail will be sited along the ridge-
line of the hills and mountains surrounding the Bay, going
through all nine Bay Area counties, and offering an unparalleled
OPPOrtUnity tO experience the out-of-doors in this region; and
WHEREAS, the planned corridor of the Bay Area Ridge Trai 1
incOrDOrates PrOPOSed routes that are identified in the adopted
Trails and Pathways Plan for Santa Clara County.
WHEREAS, the trail will serve the needs of hikers, equestrians,
bicVclists, beDDie who are not so able-bodies, runners, families
and others, many of whom are residents of the City of SaratoGa;
and
WHEREAS, the Bay Area can serve as a model for the nation,
showing how a major metropolitan region can capitalize on its
most spectacular natural assets and bring to all its residents
the oDPortunitV to hike and ride close to their homes on trails
and walkways;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City
of Saratoga SUPPOrtS the efforts of public agencies, trails
grOUPS# private sector institutions, and individuals who are
working through the San Francisco Bay Area Ridge Trail Council to
bring this trail into reality.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 7th day of
December, 1988, bV the following vote:
