RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
ENDORSING THE CLEAN AIR AND TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT ACT OF 1990
(INITIATIVE)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saratoga finds that rail
transportation results in cleaner air, less energy use, more
transportation opportunities for those who cannot drive, and less
congestion on already overcrowded streets and highways, and
WHEREAS, the Clean Air and Transportation Improvement Act of 1990
would provide $1990 million to improve and expand intercity,
commuter and light rail transit throughout California, and
WHEREAS, the Act will result in implementation of part of an
overall transportation plan which will provide cleaner air and
better transportation for all Californians, and
WHEREAS, the Act would provide $173,000,000 for CalTran
improvements and right-of-way acquisition , as well as $47,000,000
for light rail projects serving the cities of Santa Clara County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Saratoga does hereby endorse the placement and passage of the Clean
Air and Transportation Improvement act on the June 1990 ballot.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 20th day of
September, 1989, by the following vote:
