RMNOSUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
COMMBNDINQ RXCBARD DYER, 8R.
WHEPaAS, Richard Dyer has served on the Library Commission for
six and one-half years, including four and one-half years as Vice
Chair, and has now resigned, and
WHZR~AS, Dick participated in a number of important matters
considered by the Commission over the years, including securing
a donation'of shelving to the Friends of the Library from IBM;
participating in the feasibility study concerning City operation
of the library, and
WHEREAS, Dick also was instrumental in getting a pay telephone
installed in the library grounds; successfully lobbied for extra
funding from the City for year-round Sunday hours; participated
in nomination of Friends of the Libraries for CALTAC's annual
award, which they won in 1988~ advised the County Librarian on
equipment and services for the Saratoga Library; worked to
upgrade the landscaping and maintenance of the Library grounds;
and participated in a study on the need for expansion of the
Library building.

is hereby commended and thanked for his service on the Library
Commission.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 19th day of
September, 1990, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Anderson, Ctevenger, Kohler, Monia, and Mayor Stutzman
