HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 00-022 RESOLUTION NO. 00-022 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA DECLARING CANVASS OF RETURNS AND RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 7, 2000 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saratoga duly called and ordered held in the City on Tuesday, March 7, 2000, a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the voters one measure concerning the City Library Expansion; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the applicable provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California, the Registrar of Voters of the County of Santa Clara has duly canvassed the votes cast by the electors in the City of Saratoga upon the measure hereinafter set fort, and has certified to the City Council results of the votes cast, which certification is attached; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA THAT: 1. The canvass by the Registrar of Voters as shown in Attachment C and the results of the votes cast at the Special Municipal Election is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved. 2. The total numbers of votes cast in the City of Saratoga and the number of votes cast in each precinct for and against ballot Measure N submitted at the Special Municipal Election are as set forth in Attachment C. All absent voters' ballots have been duly received and canvassed in time, form and manner as required by law, and the results of the absentee vote are set forth in Attachment C. 3. At the Special Municipal election the following measure was submitted to the voters and the number of total votes cast for and against the measure was as follows: "YES" "NO" 8,624 2,503 MEASURE N: "To improve, renovate, and expand the Saratoga Community Library in its current location by providing space for more books; ensuring modem earthquake standards; improving access to fire exits; updating electrical wiring for computers; providing adequate seating; updating inadequate lighting; and providing additional space for children's reading areas, shall the City issue $15 million in bonds at the lowest interest rates possible, with guaranteed annual audits, a citizen's oversight committee, and no money for administrators' salaries?" 4. The City Clerk of the City of Saratoga hereby is instructed to enter the resolution on the minutes of the City Council as a statement of results of the Special Municipal Election.
