TYPE: Regular Meeting I ROUTINE ORGANIZATION A. ROLL CALL Present: Anderson, Bennett, Pasetta, Tiffany, Webster Absent: Crisp, Higgtns B. MINUTES Commissioner Anderson moved that the minutes be approved as distributed. Commissioner Tiffany seconded. Carried unanimously. I1 PUBLIC HEARINGS A. USE PERMITS None B. VARIANCES 1. V-IO0 - W. B. Hough, Jr. V-IO0 The Actin9 Secretary read the application for a variance W-B.Hough from a required side setback of 10' to a proposed 97 side setback to conform to the existing structure. A letter from Mrs.'LaVena Loewy dated September 8, 1958 asking for postponement of decision was read. A statement from Theo P. Williams dated 9/8/58 stating no objection was read, Commissioner Pasetta moved for approval of the application, Commissioner Tiffany seconded. Carried unanimously, 2, V-IOI - W* E* Mustain V-IO1 The Actleg Secretary read the application for a variance W.E.Mustatn to add a storage shed at the rear of the Blue Hills Market. Commissioner Webster moved approval of a 16, x 60' addi- tion to be added to the present store, subject to the granting of Architectural & Site Control permit for the actual details. Commissioner Tiffany seconded. Carried unanimously. -1- III OLD BUSINESS A. SDR-79 - George Oldham 5DR-79 The Acting Secretary read the conditions as set bY the County G.Oldham Subdivision Committee meeting of August 20, 1958- Marvin Knox, architect for George Oldham, requested that the application for Building. Site Approval be withdrawn as his client felt it was.too expensive to improve Saratoga Avenue at this time and that the present building was too new to demolish. In answer to a question, the Director of Publtc Works stated that he had recommended a 90w or lO0w four lane ~ventual width for Saratoga Avenue at the Council Meeting of September 1958, but the Council wished to consult with DeLeuw Cather and the Planntng Consultant before making a final decision on the width. Chairman Bennett moved to refer the matter to the Council without recommendation. The motion died for lack of a second. Commissioner Webster moved that the application for Building Site Approval'requested orally at this meeting 9/8/58 and illustrated by the plot plan marked "Exhibit B" dated 8/1~/98 and fixed at the meeting be granted aubject to'ArchitecturaX & Site Control and subject also to a bond being furnished to insure the dedication of right of way of the front 20w, except the portion of that front 20t upon which the building is cated and also for the improvement of the same according to County standards when the road is actually put in. Chairman Bennett seconded. The following roll call vote was recorded: Ayes: Anderson, Tiffany, Webster, Bennett. Noes: Pasetta. B. SDR-61 - L. W. Curtis SDR-61 T~e Director'of Public Works made a report on the road as had L.W.Curtis been requested at the previous Planning Commission meeting. Commissioner Webster moved that Condition No. 1 as set by the Planning Commission on Mar~h 10~ 1958 be changed to reads -2- "An 18w improved road be provided to the Curtis property from Qhere the two 9~ access roads from Pike Road converge." Com- missioner Anderson seconded. Carried unanimously. C. Ordinance 3A-TA - Report to Council Ord. Chairman Bennett read a letter to the City Council from the 3A-TA Planning Commission dated September 3, 1958 that reported on A-2 and A-1 reappraisal and a letter from the City Attorney, dated August 20, 1958 on the same subject. The Acting Secretary read the City Council minutes of Septem- ber 3, 1958 in which the Planning Commission was directed to confer with the Planning Consultant and the City Attorney further on this matter and report back to the City Council. V-99 - eeorge Oldham V-99 Comaissioner Anderson moved that an Architectural & Site O.Oldham Control permit be granted for the plans marked "Exhibit B" as submitted to the Planning Commission on SeptGmber 8, 1958. Commissioner Pasetta seconded. Carried unanimously. V. PETITIONS A~D GRIEVN'4CES A. WRITTEN'COb~MUNICATIONS f. County of Santa Clara Planning Commission S.C.County The Acting Secretary read a letter from the County of Santa Planning Commission Clara Planning Commission and displayed a tentative sub- division map of property adjacent to the City limits of Saratoga. Commissioner Anderson moved that the matter be referred to the Director or Public Works for a reply to the County Plan~ing Commission. C6mmisstoner Tiffany seconded. Car- Pied unanimously. B. ORAL PETITIONS Fru{tv~le 1. Ch~'irman Bennett stated that the next meetin~ of the Ave. future meetinG Planning Commission~ September 22, 1958, would be held place ~t Fruitv~le School on Fruttv~le Avenue. Commissioner Webster moved for ad3ournment at 9:25 P.M. Com- missioner Tiffany seconded.
